Jabberwocky: How to Break Down the Poem for KS2

Jabberwocky is a narrative poem by Lewis Carroll. It is about a hero who slays a fierce creature called the Jabberwock. The poem is often described as a nonsense poem as it contains numerous made up words. However, though parts of the poem appear to be gibberish, the style in which it is written means that the reader is able to decipher meaning and storyline. Lewis Carroll included the poem his 1871 novel ‘Alice through the Looking Glass’. Download a free copy of the poem by clicking the button below.
